When we use that quote from Spurgeon, it&#39;s a reference to the authenticity of the Bible. I could sit here all afternoon giving statistics and factoids, but the Bible can stand on it&#39;s own. My point in this post was that we don&#39;t have to defend the Bible, however, our faith is a different matter. That is the &quot;Why&quot; that you&#39;re referring to.<br /><br />To that I would say this, &quot;I believe the Bible because... It is a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies, and they claim to be divine rather than human in origin.&quot;<br /><br />That was put in layman&#39;s terms by an incredible preacher, Voddie Baucham. Although apologetics have their place in helping us defend our faith, the only way to bring the lost to salvation is the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Know that this type of change is not easy and will take time.<br /><br />The first step is to find like-minded individuals that are already showing this biblical model of family discipleship. Look around your church, there&#39;s bound to be one or two families that are. (Sometimes, it&#39;s even those who have children that are not attending YM.) Once identified, then start meeting with them. Before long, others will begin to pick up on the vibe and want to know why/when/what is going on. Or why are those youth of such and such&#39;s parents so well behaved. What are they doing? It&#39;s not the brute-force method that will promote this model, rather a gradual push from like minded followers. Detroit is passionate about their hockey and have a greater respect for the sport than that. But that&#39;s what happens when you&#39;re a &#39;Hockeytown&#39; through and through. No offense, but Pittsburgh is not a hockeytown, nor will it ever be. One needs to look no further than when Lemuieux and Jagr were in the finals and there were still tickets freely available. They&#39;ve come far from then, but have to go an eternity to match Detroit&#39;s fanbase. I would regard Columbus more of a hockeytown than Pittsburgh (minus a few cups). Their crowd is intense, I&#39;ve been to several games there.
